The Sports Watchlist – Article Automation
A sports article workflow that combines scheduled research, parallel article and image preparation, publishing validation, and execution reporting.
n8n workflow design and implementation, including connected services, conditional routing, and exception handling.
Actual workflow screenshots. Private executions and records are not public.
Actual n8n editor capture from October 5, 2026, showing workflow structure only. No private records, credentials, or execution outputs are shown. No workflow was executed for this showcase.
The challenge
Content and images need to meet at the right point in a publishing flow, while overlapping runs and failed requests need explicit handling.
What I built
- A daily schedule and execution guard before existing-post checks, sports research, and category mapping.
- Separate article-writing and image-generation branches, with an image guard and media upload before the merge.
- WordPress publishing, publish validation, success reporting, and a shared error path that clears the execution state.
Key implementation decisions
Join the branches deliberately
The article and image paths merge before the post data is prepared.
Track the run through failure
Execution-complete and error-clear paths are represented alongside the initial guard.
The result
A published sports publishing workflow with parallel preparation and explicit success and failure paths. Its canvas documents the implementation; no live publishing test or throughput benchmark was performed.
